Sony MDH-10

Brand : Sony

Manual

Features: This is a computer peripheral designed for computer data storage. Uses special MD-Data discs (similar, but not identical to MD-Audio discs). Capacity: 140MB, transfer rate: 150KB/s continuous, 2.5MB/s burst, 320KB internal buffer, average seek < 500ms. LCD display on remote. Includes remote, headphones. Unit will play (but not record) audio MDs.

On a very limited review of some units (<10) there seems to have been at least three versions produced, having serial numbers starting 100xxxx, 300xxxx, or 400xxxx. They have different SCSI connectors on the back; at the time of review the 100xxxx and 400xxxx have Amplimite HPDB50 and the 300xxxx an HPCN50 (sometimes called micro-Centronics). The difference in SCSI connector may be dependent on the region in which they were originally sold (eg Japan or US/Canada/EU).

Exploring the Sony Product Park site shows there was a firmware upgrade offered that claimed to improve battery life by 80%.
