6th generation 24-bit Sharp ATRAC. (20-bit AD/DA converter)
Adopts two types of auto play functions for use outdoors and in the car.
Microphone Synchro Function - Recording starts automatically in response to sound or voice. In addition, it senses silence for 3 seconds or more and pauses, so you can use the disc without wasting it.
Time auto mark function - can automatically record cue points at regular intervals (three-step switching of 3 minutes/5 minutes/10 minutes)
2x fast playback function
40 second sound skipping guard memory (16-megabit DRAM)
12% reduction in volume and thickness compared to the prior model ( MD-MS701) the motor unit for raising and lowering the recording head has been reduced to 2/3 the size of the previous model by adopting a new reduction gear mechanism. Achieving slimness and slimness (← that's in the press release)
Uses a “floating” charging system that allows charging even during recording or playback with an AC adapter
Katakana character input support
Designed to work with the Sharp AD-AJ2 PCMCIA laptop soundcard. See below for pics and drivers.
